Reasonable people adjust to the world
unreasonable people try to adjust world to themselves,
all progress therefore depends on unreasonable people- Bernard Shaw
The world has constantly been changing, to cope with the changing world education has to change. But humans like other biological being resistant to uncertainty, therefore resistance to change. Over time this mismatch between changed world and little or no changed education system widens. Popular dissatisfaction, political pledge, aspiration for progress all creates huge momentum for change. The uncertain nature of reform result again work against reform. At one point inefficiency and huge pressures pushes for reform.Education is no exception to this phenomenon.
Khan has been a reformist he has reformed in many areas of educationist.
Students Council: A student of today is a leader tomorrow, they groomed in a way that prepare them to take responsibility of leader. Every body at some point of time plays the role of leader may be degrees of deference. A child of five years playing with a three year beside a road, in a moment to save from a approaching car five year drag away three years. He is the leader for the time being. There is no doubt should school inculcate leadership qualities in students. In Bangladesh misconception or perception about leadership. Most people see leadership synonymous with corruption and misuse of power. However, things are changing, even if slowly and gradually. In these backdrop Khan did a huge deal of exercise and travelled to countries like Sweden to see practically how ‘Students Cabinet’ working there. To see an example in the sub-continent environment he searched to the whole of India and found ‘Bondi Bahin’s’ Primary School. Taken some advice from Bondi Bahin and shared her experience. Embolden with the experience he convene a meeting in Directorate of Primary and Mass Education as Director General. Almost all officers oppose they argue that this will amounting to introduce politics in schools. Teachers said their life would be miserable,
Some of them even rumoured it was a deliberate attempt to indoctrinate Awami League in schools. It was reinforced by the fact that he was Served in Tungipara as Upazila Magistrate. However, he was firm to introduce students elected body in schools and he did.
First of all he developed manual and sensitise officials to create a supportive environment to implement Student Council. He then phased out election of all the schools of the country. He could not finish election of all the schools. His system was so sustainable that his able successor Mr. Shyamol Kanti Gosh introduced Elected Students Council in all Primary Schools of Bangladesh.
